Teams representing 37 European and international countries will take part in the event, competing over two days in Capture-The-Flag style competitions, Jeopardy and Attack-Defense, to determine the best-prepared team in the cyber field.
The competition will begin with the opening ceremony, starting at 6:00 pm. on Tuesday 8 October, streamed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hR8iYAq-Sug, during which several institutional guests will speak: Nunzia Ciardi, Deputy General Director of the ACN, Luca Tagliaretti Executive Director of the ECCC, Alessandro Armando Director of the Cybersecurity National Lab together with Gaspare Ferraro and Paolo Prinetto, Co-Chairs of ECSC2024 and the sponsors of the event.
"ACN strongly supported this initiative. This is why it supported its organization. We believe it is essential to support our young talents, who, with initiatives like this, can continue to develop their skills and test them by comparing themselves with other talented young people in a European and international dimension. As is known, the human factor, the role played by individuals in ensuring the security of each organization is strategic, and so is filling that gap in professionalism, the skill gap, that afflicts the cyber sector. This is why we are happy to have contributed to the training of the new cyberdefenders of Team Italy to whom we wish the best of luck in view of the competition". Commented the Deputy Director General of the Italian National Cybersecurity Agency, Dr. Nunzia Ciardi.
"For the first time", comments Prof. Armando "not only will Italy host an international competition of this importance, but it will have the opportunity to compare itself in the preparation of exercises and competitions in the cyber field with the best European experts".
For the 2024 edition, the European Cybersecurity Challenge is sponsored by Reply, a diamond sponsor of the event, an Italian IT consultancy company founded in Turin in 1996, and Intesa Sanpaolo, a platinum sponsor of the event and the first banking group in Italy.
"Reply's support of the European Cybersecurity Challenge 2024 - which brings together the best young European talents in the field - confirms our commitment to enhancing cybersecurity education, awareness, and training. For Reply, which has always focused on cybersecurity issues, this event represents a unique opportunity to promote excellence in cybersecurity," commented Giampiero Restaino, Executive Partner of Reply.
Fabio Ugoste, Head of Cybersecurity and Business Continuity Management of Intesa Sanpaolo: "We are delighted to take part in this significant cybersecurity event.
